What is Luminova?
The ‘Luminova’ is the perfect light shade for those who would prefer an art piece in place of their everyday light. This light features 12 pentagons which combine aesthetics with mathematical elegance.
This lamp was crafted with care to perfectly fit into any environment due to its high versatility in overall aesthetics.
Research / Inspiration
The inspiration for this lamp was to create an illusion at first
glance through the use of finishing string.
The main design references for this project were
eggs, space ships and the form of a football. My main focus on the lamp was the
geometric shapes combined with the illusion of bending the laws of gravity.
Manufacture Process
Final Product
For my final design I chose to focus on the pentagon design found through my research process. I wanted texture in the final piece, so I chose to use truncated paper to give it texture and depth. As I wanted some unique features in my final design, I added windows for tracing paper to give different light levels using paper weight. The geometric design captures everything I had in mind for this lampshade.
